This checker audits your XML sitemap against the official protocol from Sitemaps.org and common search engine requirements (Google, Bing):

URL Limit: Maximum 50,000 URLs per individual sitemap file.
File Size Limit: Sitemaps up to 5MB are checked by this tool.
Absolute URLs: Every <loc> must be an absolute URL starting with http:// or https://.
ISO 8601 Dates: <lastmod> must follow W3C datetime format (YYYY-MM-DD or a full timestamp with timezone offset).
Priority Values: <priority> must be a decimal value between 0.0 and 1.0.
Change Frequency: <changefreq> must be one of: always, hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, never.

Modern search engines primarily rely on <loc> and a reliable <lastmod>. Google largely ignores <priority> and <changefreq> unless they accurately reflect real content changes.
